چکیده
Background: Malaria is a parasitic infection that common in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of world. It estimated to kill one million individuals annually. Detarium microcarpum (Fabaceae family) used traditionally for treatment malaria, diabetes, hypertension, convulsions, pneumonia, leprosy, meningitis. The purpose this research was evaluate antiplasmodial potential safety profile methanol extract D. stem bark. Methods: subjected phytochemical screening oral median lethal dose (LD50) estimation. Using curative, suppressive, prophylactic experimental animal models, activity assessed mice infected with chloroquine-sensitive Plasmodium berghei berghei. Biochemical hematological tests were conducted rats orally administered 28 days. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) analyze data, followed by Dunnett's post hoc test. Results: Alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenes, glycosides found through analysis. When compared negative control group, at tested doses (200, 400, 800 mg/kg) showed significant (P < 0.001) effect significantly prolonged survival time treated groups. had an insignificant > 0.05) on biochemical parameters tested. Conclusion: results suggest bark possesses relatively safe after short-term use.

Carbohydrates from Detarium microcarpum bark extract.
The bark extract of the medicinal plant Detarium microcarpum was analysed for its carbohydrate content by GLC-CIMS. Preparative HPLC of the benzoylated carbohydrate fraction led to the isolation of L-quino-1,5-lactone, D-(-)-bornesitol, D-pinitol, myo-inositol, sucrose, D-glucose, and D-fructose benzoates, which were characterised by NMR spectroscopy experiments.
متن کاملHepatoprotective activity of Mammea africana ethanol stem bark extract
Mammea africana Sabine (Guttiferae) stembark, a common plant, traditionally used to treat various diseases and ailments was evaluated for hepatoprotective potentials against paracetamol- induced liver injury in rats. The hepatoprotective effect of the stembark extract (30-90 mg/kg) was evaluated by the assay of liver function parameters: total and direct bilirubin, serum protein and albumin, to...

Garciniavalline (1), a novel aporphinoid alkaloid, in addition to four known alkaloids, cleistopholine (2), O-methylmoschatoline (3), (-)-oliveroline (4) and (-)-oliveridine (5), wereisolated and characterized from Garcinia Parvifolia Miq. stem bark. Structural elucidation ofthese compounds was established by spectroscopic methods. Among them, alkaloids (2) and (4)exhibited antiplasmodial activi...
متن کاملIn vitro antiplasmodial activity and prophylactic potentials of extract and fractions of Trema orientalis (Linn.) stem bark
BACKGROUND Trema orientalis (T. orientalis Linn) has been used in the management of malaria in the western part of Nigeria and despite its application in ethnomedicine, there is dearth of scientific evidence to justify the acclaimed prophylactic antimalarial usage of the plant. The aim of this study is to assess the in vitro antiplasmodial cell-free assay and chemopreventive efficacy of the met...
